Digipak: This Week's Blogging...
1.Definition: what is a digipak?
2.Number of panels; size of panels
3.Upload 3 images of digipaks from
your genre and complete a digipak analysis - screen shot 3 album covers and annotate with conventions: font style, band/artist name, album name, image used: artistic illustration, digitally created, still shot from music video, features artist (star quality?), colour palette, iconography from your genre, parental advisory sticker, reviews from NME, production company, band logo, track list... etc.
4.Comment on Ferdinand de Saussaure's theory of signifiers and signified on the album covers (colour, font
type, images etc.)
5.Upload info on Goffman’s
gender representation in advertising
6.Post vlogs from BFI trip
Use the info below as guidance, but DO NOT just copy and paste!
A digipak
is the alternative to standard jewel case packaging
- Made mostly from thick card, the digipak is virtually shatterproof and allows great graphic display.
- Originally used for the album packaging of leading musicians, the digipak and digipak family are now priced reasonably enough to be used for any CD or DVD project.
- The digipak is an extremely versatile packaging. It can be made to accommodate a booklet either by placing in a die-cut slot or gluing onto one of the panels
- In addition, the panels can be increased from 4 to 6, 8 or more.
- The DVD Digipak is a popular alternative to the DVD box which is now widely used for feature film DVD releases which are special editions because it increases the value and creates a premium product.
- CD and DVD DigiPaks make a big statement, they represent the ultimate custom packaging for your CD or DVD replication project. A DigiPak is also a more environmentally friendly option when compared with traditional plastic jewel cases or DVD cases.
- Material: 300gsm card with matt or gloss varnish. Printed 4 colours (CMYK) or Pantone colours. Spot varnish, lamination and embossing available.
- Dimensions (based on standard 4pp digipak): finished size of 139.5mm x 6mmx 125.5mm

Wild Bill: Shot Composition
As seen at BFI during a Q&A with Dexter Fletcher, director of Wild Bill.
Fletcher draws inspiration from artwork when framing shots.
Top Tip: focus on the composition of your shots, as much as your narrative or performance elements.
Stop animation. Portrait Artist of the Year
Idea for stop animation: use your artistry skills to complement your editing skills..
Could also double as your digipak or magazine advert. Three in One

If you haven't yet embedded your videos or if you haven't written an evaluation of links between Goodwin's theory and your videos, please do so. It's only week two - don't fall behind at this early stage! You know who you are........
THEORY TUESDAY
You have one week to complete a Theoretical Evaluation of Your AS Production on your blog – YOU WILL NEED THIS FOR YOUR A2 EXAM SO THE MORE DETAIL THE BETTER!
TASK ONE: Make a table of how you used XYZ in the production of your AS film. You're EVALUATING: Thus, write about what was good about it vs what you could have improved

TASK ONE: Make a table of how you used XYZ in the production of your AS film. You're EVALUATING: Thus, write about what was good about it vs what you could have improved
- Digital Technology: camera equipment, techy stuff
- Creativity: mindmapping ideas, camera angles, mise-en-scene
- Research and planning: blogging, watching clips from genre..
- Post-production: editing, adding/manipulating sound, title credits
- Using conventions from real media texts: subvert or adhere to conventions of genre?
TASK TWO:
Start researching into your song
Write about why your song choices may work or not.....
The song you choose to use for your
music video must be copyright free. Copyright free options available for your
Music Video in G324 are:
q Ask friends or approach local bands and get permission to use their
material
q Approach unsigned bands on ‘My Space’ etc and get permission to use their
material
q Collaborate with music department/students in your centre on the
project
q Create your own music or sound track
q OR…Use a music track by a well-known artist, but email the record
label asking permission: be aware of the dangers of using a well known
artist à your videos are more likely to mimic
existing videos and not challenge conventions
